Aidan and the New Playground

After a lot of shopping and browsing, we finally managed to find a playground for Aidan and his as-yet-unnamed sibling that was nice enough to make up happy, big enough to keep him entertained, and reasonably affordable enough that we could get it. The downside? It had to be fully assembled. And I do mean fully - when the boxes were unpacked, we had over 350 boards, more than 1200 screws, and over 200 bolts to assemble. Kevin, Scott, and I worked all day Saturday, then Scott and I worked most of the day Sunday, with Maria and I finally finishing things up Sunday night. That adds up to over 60 man-hours into this thing.

BUT - it's pretty awesome. And, as you'll see, Aidan loved it. Which is all that mattered...

The big mammajamma itself. As you can see, there's quite a bit to this thing - a picnic table,
a slide, a climbing wall, a swingset, monkey bars, and even a crow's nest!
Taking on the interesting
new type of swing...
...which meets with approval.
That or it's a grin of terror.
Puzzled over the swing? Or
the lady snapping pictures?
Bah! This swing means
nothing to me!
In which my wife decides to use
our camera as BoogerVision.
Ah, the tongue; an important
muscle in ladder climbing.
The ladder holds no challenges for a determined two-year-old.
However, that's not to say it's not exhausting...
...because now, hydration.
Electrolytes - what Aidan craves.
The first of many trips
down the slide.
Aidan looks down at the world and whispers "No" all over
again. However, it's hard to look superior when you're looking
through the wrong end of a telescope.
Caped Avenger looking down on His City, or inmate
trapped in a tower? Depends on the day, I'd say...
A conversation between
a prisoner and his long
lost love. Clearly a tribute
to "Fields of Athenry."
The slowest, happiest Kool-Aid Man explosion ever. When in doubt, slide down
without looking.
My wife looks up and wishes
she
had a playhouse.
Before one slides, make sure
no one is following. It's hard
to lose people on a slide.
A very happy pairing, captured
by one who loves them both.
ACTION SHOT! More ladder climbing. There's something unnerving about watching
your child climb up something you built yourself, especially
when you know how inept you can be with things like this...

Aidan pushes his mother
down the slide. Seriously.
How awesome is that?

THE ACTIONING!
