Second Birthday Blowout!

A few days after the birthday proper, we had Aidan's second birthday party, complete with a lot of family attendance, plenty of presents, and much more awareness on Aidan's part of what was going on. He had a complete blast, and loved every second of the day.

Special thanks to my friend Diana, who took pictures while Maria and I tried to control the chaos.

Before the party even began, there were balloons. And they made noise.
This necessitated a retreat to hang out with his new helium-filled friends.
Although we ended up not using it, Aidan was
quite intrigued by the Diego tablecloth...
...but not as much as his interest
in an unattended present.
What's a party without
party hats? Lame, that's what.
Ready for the action. Oh, yes. He most certainly
knows the phrase "Say cheese".
Let it not be said that Aidan didn't attempt to spread the party mood to everyone involved.
Including the pets. They were not as excited as he was, apparently.
Between the hats and the people:
not the pets' favorite day.
This totally sums up Gabby's
attitude towards the day.
I don't even have a caption. This
picture just cracks me up.
It wasn't just pets who had
hats forced upon them.
Marshall arrived and immediately
set up transportation.
Miss Billie, our babysitter,
and one set of my parents
take it all in.
Our heroic photographer
documents her own presence.
Quite the haul, eh? "I said no pictures, dammit!"
Aidan takes a ride on the shoulder express with my dad. Approval rating: high.
PRESENT TIME! First unwrapped: a Diego figure from Diana. Score!
While Daddy gets to have the fun of unwrapping everything out of its hellbound hides,
Aidan hams for the camera and plays with more presents.
Hugs for Memaw/Granddaddy. From David and Linda: a new interactive Thomas book
and a new engine for the track - complete with noise. (Thanks?)
A dump truck from Miss Billie. From my Dad and Ness: magnetic blocks. Cooooooool.
A grateful hug is definitely merited here.
The triple threat from Mom and Kevin: a Hot Wheels car, a basket of
plastic foods, and a talking Rescue Pack. It does not get better.
Once again, showing
some love.
CLOTHES, MOTHERBITCHES!
(Okay, he may not have
been that excited about this.)
ACTION SHOT!
From Mamaw/Papaw - train stickers and a conductor's cap.
This definitely pushes us up to the level of Pimp Daddy ExtremeTM.
Enough of the opening -
let's get to the playing!
The Rescue Pack definitely merits further investigation,
and is an early favorite for the day.
"UMNEY'S ALLEY STAR
CAUGHT IN LOVE NEST
WITH HISPANIC BOY-TOY"
Alex shares Aidan's hat around. Not as PimptasticTM. Argument over sharing?
Discussion of rules?
Ah, for want of context.
What better way to end the day than with a Diego ice cream cake from BR?
